One of the most important parts of Empire at War is the maps. All of the battles are held on them. Making a map is not a simple task. It is a process, rather.

It begins with planning. Depending on what is being asked, the maps can be simple or complex.

After you have drawn out the paths, marked player positions, and considered special structures, next comes the actual mapping. You start with hills, to form the paths you originally drew out.

Next you add props. There are many different props, ranging from bases to scenery.

Once your map is realistic-looking, it is time to do passability. Passability may be the most critical component of your map. This is what guides the AI to make sure they do not tread through oceans, walk into steep chasms, or scale mountains.

When you meet the requirements of the original order, unless there are any last requests, then your map is done and ready for play.

Mapping is demanding, but highly rewarding in the end. It is the only department that encourages you to think on your own, and there really are no wrong maps. Again, unlike the other departments, there are no strict guidelines, and it is rather your own creativity that really makes the maps special. Mapping is not a hard process, it just requires time and dedication. And as stated earlier, it is very rewarding in the end.

Note: You must have both Star Wars Empire at War and Forces of Corruption for Map Editor to work.

If you think you've got what it takes to be a mapper, contact either myself, Kaiser Bob (Noret) or Lieutenant Commander Chris.

The possibilities are endless!
