yeah. It does have its bugs. On my old computer I would have to do all the mapping in a single sitting, because loading a map would make the computer crash. And this only happened with map editor

It should be finished tomorrow. If I run into a problem, then it'll be ready Friday.

hmm this is true do you know how to do those. If not get some decent practice in.

Let me break it down:
1. lack of hills. Striaghtforward. Add hills to make sure the players cant see over the edge of your map.
2. Lack of texturing. Again, straightforward. Add texture where it is appropriate.
3. Lack of realism. True, you will find no perfectly round pools in nature. Try to make them come out a little in places.

I've already stated I can't do textures yet. And there are hills in the northwest corner, but I though that more hills would make the battlefield seem like a crater.

Well, you also use hills to create your paths. Did you look at my mini tutorial? The middle thing is one giant hill. Look at any of my maps really. Hills are how you form the paths

Ah.... I used trees and water for some of the path. In the northwest part, I used hills.........

its not a complaint, ok. You are working for the mod. The mod does not work for you. Hate to break it to you, but you have to live up to what it demands. Mapping is not designed to be convenient. You will learn with experience.

I was joking. That was the purpose of the strike-through. I have nothing but free time on my hands, I can take as long as needed. And I want to learn.

Alright, just experiment with map editor for a bit. And for textures: go to textures: load, and it should be in material sets. Pick the one your map demands and load it. Then you pick a texture and apply it with a paintbrush. Give it a shot.

It works. I can't find the texture to use for mountains in the Temperate set........ would Conceret work?

um.... yes there is one althogh it has streaks of grass on it.

you dont have to turn anything in, just play around with map editor for a bit and learn what it has to offer. Don't worry, this isnt a contest between anyone. I just want good, thurough maps

I never did have the hang. Whenever I tried to apply them nothing happened .

oh good want to post some examples so we can see its not a huge deal though

the whole idea of the textures though is to add realism to the map, example: hills would be a different texture then, say a route, which would probably be dirt. The only advice I can really give you is look at nature.

Sure. I focused on one area of my map. Chris, if you haven't seen the rest, it's a few pages back. But those phots doesn't have textures.

ok, looks like you know how to do it, and here is what I mean by realism:
